Students get to select which odor they would like their canine partner to find. The available odors are explosives, narcotics, firearms, and bed bugs.

The four-week detection course is perfect for anyone from beginners trying to break into the working dog world to companies needing to train their new handlers. All of the canines purchased for this course are pre-trained to the specifications defined prior to the new handler arriving.
Students receive in-depth academic classroom and lecture. Some of the topics discussed include: Canine Healthcare and Emergency First Aid, Olfactory System and Capabilities, and Search Techniques.
Real-world application of canine search patterns and procedures. Canine teams will learn how to complete searches of buildings, vehicles, luggage, parcels, and open public areas. Obedience is included in these hours.
Certification of the canine team is the most important aspect and sets the canine team apart from others. It is completed during the last week of training.
The six-week law enforcement course is only open to sworn law-enforcement officers. This course will prepare new or experienced handlers for the challenges of operating a canine on the streets. This course can be customized to meet the needs of any agency to include single/dual purpose canines, varying court schedules, personnel issues, etc.
Students receive in-depth academic classroom and lecture. Some of the topics discussed include canine safety and healthcare, Tactical Trauma and Life-Saving (TTLS), Olfactory System and Capabilities, Search Techniques, Canine Case Law (Use of Force, Training, Application), and Courtroom Testimony.
Real-world application of canine search patterns and procedures. Canine teams will learn how to complete searches of buildings, vehicles, luggage, parcels, and open public areas. Obedience is included in these hours.
Human Tracking and Trailing has been proven to be one of the best and most beneficial aspects of a canine team to modern law enforcement. The canine team will be taught to succeed in unfavorable conditions such as soft or hard surface, varying terrain types, varying length of time, multiple turns, and weather conditions.
Patrol techniques will prepare canine teams for integration into the real-world operations of law enforcement as a less-lethal option. Apprehension, grip development, decoy mechanics and development, apprehension from a vehicle (bailouts), vehicle extractions, building searches, and handler protection are included.
Certification is completed in all areas requested by the agency. The canine team will certify with Brawner Group K-9 as well as an independent third party organization.
The Law Enforcement Course has an optional add-on known as the Field Training Program. Much like it sounds, this program allows our lead law enforcement instructor to ride with the newly graduated canine team and provide real-world feedback, training, and instruction. This program also comes with yearly re-certification, agency policy and procedure review, expert courtroom testimony, and many other benefits.
The six-week detector dog trainer course is for someone with the desire to immerse themselves in the art of odor detection. Each student will start with a completely green (untrained) canine and take the dog all the way to certification with the help of our trainers. Learn everything from proper odor imprinting to shaping the final response.
Students receive in-depth academic instruction in the following areas: Canine Safety, Canine Healthcare, Canine Kenneling and Transportation, Principles of Conditioning (Classical and Operant Conditioning), Marked Timing, Goal-Directed Behavior, Olfactory System and Capabilities, Explosives and Narcotics Handling, Safety and Storage.
Students will learn how to imprint a canine using odor recognition protocol such as the four-hole variable and odor wall. Each step of the imprint process will be taken further to application of detector dog handling search patterns and search procedures in buildings, vehicles, warehouses, and open areas.
Feel success as a trainer as the canine that you helped imprint and train completes the training by passing certification.
The ten-week patrol and detector dog trainer course is the ultimate canine trainer course offered by Brawner Group. Canine handling experience is preferred. Students who graduate from this program will have the knowledge and skill to train canines in all areas; obedience, detection, tracking, and apprehension.

Start from the beginning and learn the methodology to teach tracking from step 1. Through successive approximation, utilize ground disturbance and human scent to push the canine forward in training.
Students will learn the fundamentals of bite work, grip development, gunfire stimuli, canine team selection (how to evaluate green canines), animal behavior (physiological and psychological factors), real-world scenarios, training operations and situational problem-solving.
